Job Description
The Role
Our client’s Financial Sector Actuarial practice is a successful and growing practice. It currently advises financial sector clients in the UK and Europe on all manner of actuarial and risk issues. The services offered are varied, and are often tailor made in response to demanding and interesting client problems.
The practice currently has around 70 people in the team and is split into 2 areas, split roughly 50:50 between life and non-life. Principal offerings on the life side include realistic balance sheet review, ICA reviews, transaction work, due diligence, embedded value advice and reviews, expert testimony and a range of consulting services aimed at start-ups including process improvement and support services. Assignments include working frequently in Europe and elsewhere in the world.
There are many development opportunities, including overseas work, international secondments and working with experts in other disciplines as a part of multi-disciplinary teams. They use MoSes and the Barrie & Hibbert economic scenario generator.
Responsibilities
Working directly with clients on projects, both on-site and in the office, and maintaining and enhancing the company’s relationship with them. The capability to manage such engagements and play a part in shaping the company’s tailored solutions is essential.
Taking charge of all the administration surrounding engagements such as billing the client and dealing with quality procedures.
Leading the implementation of tailored solutions that require a solid understanding of actuarial principles as they relate to retail financial services business.
Person Specification
The Individual
Applicants need to be capable of generating business for the practice, in relation to identifying new opportunities as well as leveraging off existing relationships.
They must have a good level of technical competence and strong engagement management experience or potential, who desire to be part of a burgeoning actuarial practice.
Extensive experience as a qualified Actuary, combined with a background in Life Insurance.
Experience gained within a consultancy environment would be highly advantageous.
Sufficient interpersonal skills to manage consultants and sustain effective working relationships with clients are essential.
Second language an advantage fluency in a European language would be a great asset.
